I checked out your web site and its wonderful. I just wanted to ask about your rescue stories page,
We have recently (Oct 2011) rescued a big clydy gelding and he will be used towork with kids on the Autism spectrum as a assisted Therapy horse.I wondered if you'd like his story and photos for your page.
He is a true gentle giant, 18yrs old and 18.1hh!
He is still gaining weight, will be a long process,he was very poor and still having his feet corrective trimmed every 4 weeks as they were as bad as your current rescue mare's (Jala) feet. He also had severe lymphodema on all 4 legs from long term severe neglect, with cronic greazy heels on all 4 legs, so bad we had to shave off
his feathers etc. His legs looked like a sharpei dogs skin, rolls of swollen skin and sores in between each roll.
He will always have a home for life with us, and Id love to share his story.
In his day he was a champion harness horse, been in teams of 8, done a lot of work in field days around the country in chains etc. He is a registered purebred and i even got his papers. He has had a lot of massage therapy as the position his pelvis and hocks have been in for years with foot and lymphodema neglect has had
all his muscles wasted, cramped and stiff and painful with arthritis.
I commend what you all do, rescuing the heavy horses that this country was built on, good on you ladies!
So if you'd like another story for your web site I am happy to send more photos etc to you, including the ones of his feet when he was first trimmed etc
